Pretty in Pink Protein Smoothie

Updated: Feb 12, 2023

Pink Pineapples give this smoothie a sweetness and beautiful color that lures you in and keeps you sipping because of the great taste.

Pink pineapple is gaining popularity and is becoming easier to find in stores. If you have never tried a pink pineapple, it is definitely worth the try. Pink pineapples are sweeter and are less acidic than yellow pineapples. They also carry a much higher cost. Hopefully, as their popularity increases, the price will go down.

Pink Pineapples are Sweeter and Less Acidic than Yellow Pineapples

The are harder to find than yellow pineapples. I have seen them in local grocery stores already cut in the prepared fruit section and whole in Asian grocery stores.

Pink pineapples usually have their tops cut off so that the grower can use the top to grow more pineapples. This top part is called the fruit crown and brings a dramatic presentation. You can use pink pineapples in the same ways that you use regular yellow pineapples. So try them out in fruity drinks and grilled on kabobs.

Pink Pineapples have lycopene which gives its pink color. Lycopene is known for its antioxidant properties. Pink pineapples also are a good source of vitamin C. Vitamin C helps in the growth, development, and repair of all body tissues.

I love making this smoothie because it's so easy to make and the combination of the pink pineapples and strawberries give off this beautiful pink smoothie that makes me so happy.

I use a protein in this recipe to pack in lots of protein. I use a plant based protein supplement that provides 17 g protein per scoop. That's equivalent to almost 3 large eggs which is a great on the go option. The balance of protein and carbohydrates from the bananas, strawberries, and pineapple make this smoothie a good option for a post workout snack.

Pink Pineapple & Strawberry Protein Smoothie

  • ½ cup Strawberries, fresh or frozen

  • 1 banana

  • 1 scoop of your favorite plant based protein powder, vanilla flavored

I really enjoy a good, filling smoothie. I don't like taking a lot of time in the morning to make breakfast so smoothies are an easy way to start my day. How do you save time in the mornings? Leave a comment below.
