Simple Syrup

Simple syrup is sugar dissolved in water so that you can easily sweeten drinks. Getting sugar to dissolve in cold drinks takes lots of effort. Simple syrup makes it... simple. Just add and stir.

Even the recipe for simple syrup is simple. Use equal parts sugar to water. If you have one cup of sugar, you'll need one cup of water. If you use 2 cups of sugar, you'll need 2 cups of water. Heat over low heat until almost boiling. You just want the sugar to dissolve. Allow the mixture to cool. It's ready to use.

Simple syrup is great to use in iced tea and in cocktails or any cold drinks that you'll want to sweeten. It's also great in this classic mojito recipe in the video below.
